LUISA PICCARRETA

Her story and writings.

A humble childhood

Luisa Piccarreta (1865-1947), known in her hometown Corato as “Luisa, the Saint”, was stuck in bed for about 60 years by a night body stiffening started when she was just over 20 years old.

She lived a spiritual experience of a strong union with suffering Jesus and in uniformity with God’s Will.

Life as a gift

She was usually called The Little Daughter of the Divine Will; she taught everybody how to live in the Divine Will as a unique and safe way to reach sanctification. She wrote 36 books for obedience, such books have their source in the prayer of “Our Father”: Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven . In 1938 her writings were banned and withdrawn from circulation.Only starting from 1973, thanks to the Divine Will Association in Sesto San Giovanni (Milan), her manuscripts were published after receiving authorization from Saint Hannibal Mary Di Francia.

Funerals, historical event

The Servant of God’s death, happened on March 4th 1947, didn’t stop her fame of holiness. Her witness and message were known in various parts of the world.

On July 3rd 1963, Luisa was specially buried in the Church of St Maria Greca in Corato. The cause for her beatification started in 1994 and ended in 2007.
